Spring 2020 Cohort 3 Virtual Workshop
These virtual activities are open only to SAGE 2YC Cohort 3 Change Agents.
The virtual workshop in Spring 2020 is a series of 12 virtual activities from January to April that consists of asynchronous work, web-based synchronous meetings, one virtual meeting of each team with the project leaders, and a webinar on course-level outcomes data. This workshop will start with an introduction to the SAGE 2YC project. We will explore research-based strategies for supporting the academic success of all students, broadening participation, and facilitating students' professional pathways in STEM, share our experiences and activities, and reflect on what we might do in these areas. Participants will develop, refine, and implement action plans to incorporate evidence-based reforms in their teaching and to strengthen their program(s) and/or department(s). The plans will incorporate evidence-based practices that address the three project strands: supporting the academic success of all students, broadening participation, and facilitating students' professional pathways in STEM. The workshop will provide opportunities to share ideas and strategies with others in the project and to give and receive feedback about the program/department action plans. The asynchronous work will include contributing to online discussions, working as a team, and working with others on campus (engaging colleagues in their program(s)/department(s) and meetings with administrators and other offices on campus. Participants will also reflect on their work throughout the workshop and will share reflections, ideas, and questions via a private discussion board.
Each one-hour virtual synchronous meeting will take place four times, on Thursdays and Fridays. Change Agents will typically attend the session to which they have been assigned for balance in the sessions.
