9:00-9:15 Introduction of workshop goals and participant introductions
9:15-9:45 What is necessary for students with disabilities or academically underprepared students to be successful?
- Gallery walk and brief summary of ideas raised that address factors that contribute to student success in the context of workshop focus
9:45-10:00 Review of technologies available to assist students with disabilities
- Presentation by student services specialists
10:00-10:15 Break
10:15-12:00 Reframing basic geoscience course activities with disabilities technologies
12:00-1:00 Lunch
- 10:15-11:00 Small working groups to reframe course activities
- 11:00-11:45 Report back to larger group
- 11:45-12:00 Return to ideas for success for students with disabilities--do results of reframing activities meet these needs?
1:00-2:15 Developmental math discussion
- Small group activity--jigsaw discussion modeling how to present graphical data or teach specific quantitative skills
2:15-2:30 Break
2:30-3:15 Developmental reading/writing discussion
- Group actvities on best practices regarding directed readings (how to find main points), how to justify/explain/support written statements
3:15-3:30 Individual reflection: write up action plans
- Individual participants will produce an action plan to implement ideas learned from this workshop to be used at their home institution
3:30-4:00 Peer sharing of action plans
- Small group evaluation of action plans
- Participants can discuss future collaborations with fellow participants
