Developing students' sense of belonging
In this session we will explore the research literature about strategies for promoting your students' sense of belonging in STEM, with particular attention to strategies that you can easily implement in your courses and programs. Research on students' sense of belonging shows that although everyone is susceptible to "belonging uncertainty," students who are under-represented in a field of study are disproportionately susceptible to these concerns, and these concerns may negatively affect their academic performance. Fortunately, there are many tools and strategies you can use to foster your students' sense of belonging -- in your classroom, in college, and in STEM.

Working with your colleagues and administrators: Strategies for leading change
This session will address how to lead change based on your own leadership perspectives and what type of change is required at your college. A range of case study scenarios will be employed to help you test drive and practice how you can effect change on your campus and lead others. Resistance to change is often strong, thus we'll also look at strategies to break through the types of barriers that often stop change initiatives.
