Logistics and Travel Information

Dates, times, and location

This workshop will begin with a dinner and reception on Wednesday afternoon, March 6th, at 5:00 PM at the Geology Museum, on the Colorado School of Mines campus. From there, the conference will continue at the Calvary Episcopal Church. The workshop will end after lunch at 2:00 PM on Friday, March 8th. Participants must attend all sessions including the final synthesis.

Before making travel plans, please read about the options below for ground transportation to the School of Mines. Please recognize that it may take at least 45 minutes to get to Golden and you may have to wait a while for some modes of public transportation. We strongly recommended that you do not schedule flights to arrive any later than 3:45 PM in order to allow enough time for travel from the airport to campus.

  • Public Transportation: Golden is very compact and walkable. RTD buses provide service between Golden and Denver.

Transportation and parking

Participants are responsible for their transportation to and from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, CO.

Airports: The Denver airport (DEN) is the closest major airport.

Ground transportation: There are many options for getting from the airports to campus.

  • Take an RTD Bus from DEN to Colorado School of Mines. (Please note that this will take approximately two hours, so plan accordingly.)
  • Reserve a seat with Super Shuttle or Golden West Airport Shuttle.
  • Sharing a taxi might be an inexpensive option, if several share the ride. We will provide information about other participant's arrivals after travel information has been submitted so you can contact each other to share rides. Yellowpages.com has several listings for Denver-area taxi companies.

Driving directions:

Parking: Mines requires permits for its on-campus lots during operational hours (7 AM - 5 PM, M-F). Visitors may park in General (blue) or Commuter (yellow) lots. General parking rates are $1.50 per hour or $8.00 daily. Commuter parking rates are $1.25 per hour or $6.00 daily. Display your meter permit on your dashboard.

Lodging

Double occupancy room reservations will be made for everyone attending this workshop at the Table Mountain Inn, arriving Wednesday, March 6th and departing Friday, March 8th. Reservations will be based on information submitted on your Travel Information Form due February 18; please do not make your own reservations.


The InTeGrate grant will cover hotel costs for double occupancy rooms for the workshop nights of the 6th and 7th of March. Please indicate if you have a roommate preference on your Registration Form; otherwise one will be assigned to you.

Single occupancy rooms are available, with the understanding that you will be responsible for the additional cost of $78/night.

Meals

Meals will be provided on campus. Wednesday evening's meal will be at the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum. Thursday and Friday breakfast and lunch meals will be at the Calvary Church. Thursday's evening meal will be at the Table Mountain Inn. There will be vegetarian options at all meals.

Weather

Golden weather during March can be variable. The average high for March is 56 and the low is 27. The evenings can be cold, as the temperature can drop below freezing at night. Dress for the workshop is casual.
