Overview and Logistics
This workshop will create or improve a science identity within students in geoscience courses using field & "research experiences" to expose students to science inquiry.
The workshop will consist of classroom activities in the morning, followed by an afternoon field to a local geologic site. Transportation to the field area will be provided. Parking is limited so a van is required.
Workshop Goals
Help students develop a science identity by:
1) Learning the spectrum of "research" experiences that can be easily brought into 2YC classes with little effort and equipment
2) Using field trips and undergraduate "research" experiences
3) Using effective active-learning techniques for teaching in the field.
