Unseen Barriers in our Geology Classes and Helping our Students Prepare for Transfer

Registration Deadline: October 16th, 2018

Friday, October 26th, 2018
Lone Star College - Tomball

The workshop focuses on what changes you have made in the past two years on your campus and what changes you can make moving forward. We will discuss implicit bias and how it might be impacting your students' success, the achievement gap, and introduce you to strategies to implement change by building classroom environments that support your students' sense of belonging. To follow up on what we have done in previous workshops, we will provide you with five active learning ready-made activities to use in the classroom that tie to student learning outcomes. The afternoon will include a panel discussion with representatives from the neighboring four-year institutions to discuss transfer expectations and challenges.

Workshop Conveners

  • Kristie Bradford
