Registration Deadline: February 10, 2020
Friday, February 21, 2020
Mt. San Antonio College, 1100 N. Grand Ave., Walnut, CA 91789
Spend a day with fellow geoscience educators and graduate students in Southern California to discuss fostering successful professional pathways as a community college geoscience faculty member. This workshop will bring together individuals who are currently working as 2YC instructors in Southern California as well as those who are preparing for future work in the 2YC geoscience community. Workshop sessions will focus on the community college job search and interview process; developing a teaching philosophy/teaching statement; delivering a teaching demonstration; the 2YC probationary (tenure) process; diversity and inclusion in undergraduate STEM education; teaching strategies to move you (and your students) beyond a lecture-heavy classroom model; and professional development opportunities for 2YC faculty and students.
