Overview and Logistics
Workshop Goals
The goals for this workshop are to share strategies for incorporating active learning strategies into the classroom, to improve student diversity and retention in our courses, and to build a regional network of Earth Science instructors. With this network we aim to share ideas, best practices, and concrete teaching strategies.

Attendees can expect to actively participate in the workshop. Our goal is to have a small group of Earth Science instructors excited about sharing new active learning strategies to improve student success and retention in Earth Science courses.
Cost
This workshop is free to participants, thanks to funding from the National Science Foundation.

Driving directions:
From the west: Follow I-90 eastbound. Take exit 11A and follow the signs to 156th Ave SE. The ramp will merge you onto S 150th St heading North. Proceed through the first stoplight (SE Eastgate Way) and get in the left lane. At the second stoplight (SE 28th St) turn left into BC's main entrance. Proceed to the traffic circle, turn to the right, then park in the multi-story parking garage.
From the east: Take I-90 westbound to Exit 11. After exiting, follow the signs for 156th Ave SE. At the stoplight, turn left onto Eastgate Way. Move into the right lane and turn right at 150th Ave SE. Get in the left lane and proceed up the hill. At the stoplight (SE 28th St) turn left into BC's main entrance. Proceed to the traffic circle, turn to the right, then park in the multi-story parking garage.Parking instructions:
Parking is open and free on the weekends. Park in any available space in the parking garage.
Finding the workshop room:
Walk west from the parking garage and go up the stairs or the elevator to the second level of building B. Turn left at the western edge of the building and head south on the second level until you see room B237.

Food
Sandwiches and refreshments will be provided. Food choices will be emailed out once you register for the conference.
