Assessing Student Learning in the Liberal Arts: Sharing Best Practices

Participants from all 14 ACM colleges will meet in workshop to discuss common concerns about coordinating, conducting, and sustaining assessment of student learning at small liberal arts colleges. Our focus will be on assessment of general education and department/program majors, with an eye toward follow-up collaborations on assessing other areas of the academic program (e.g., off-campus study, community-engaged learning, or tutorials or independent studies). Our goals are to share effective practices, build a professional network for ongoing collaboration, and explore how to disseminate our findings to other institutions of liberal learning.

Workshop Convener:

Bob Williams (Associate Professor of Education & Chair of the Committee on Assessment, Lawrence University)
