Information Literacy in the Foreign Languages: A Collaborative Workshop Exploration

Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa

Participants will meet to discuss ways of integrating information literacy into the study of languages. Institutional teams consisting of representatives of at least two of the following categories are encouraged to register: foreign language faculty, information literacy librarians, academic media specialists. The workshop will consist of a keynote speech addressing benefits, synergies, and methods of integrating information literacy and the study of languages; presentations prepared in advance on topics germane to the issue; and opportunities for participants to design workshop time around their own interests and questions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Institutional teams of up to three individuals will be nominated by Deans. Nominees will be sent a registration form that is due September 7, 2010.

Costs: The ACM through the FaCE grant program will support double-occupancy lodging for 36 participants and travel (airfare for up to four from Colorado College participants or mileage for one vehicle from other ACM institutions). Meals include Friday dinner, Saturday lunch, and breakfast is included with lodging. There is no registration fee. Participants who wish single occupancy are requested to pay the difference.
