This session is designed for individuals seeking community college teaching positions. Prospective and adjunct instructors will be given information on academic job search issues, including applying, interviewing, and developing a teaching statement. An overview of the probationary process at 2YCs will also be provided.

This session will provide examples of introductory-level, published teaching materials from the InTeGrate and GETSI projects that give your students the opportunity to use authentic geoscience data and consider the impact of geoscience phenomena on society.


11:10-11:30: time to work on teaching demonstration


11:30-12:15: lunch and time to explore active learning strategy posters


12:15-1:15: diversity, inclusion, and science identity session


1:15-2:30: teaching demonstrations
Participants will deliver their 5-minute teaching demonstration that they developed during the morning sessions. Each participant will receive anonymous feedback about their demonstration.


2:30-2:45: development of individual action plans


2:45-3:00: workshop evaluation and adjourn
