Workshop Details
The program will begin on Thursday, October 26 at 5:00 p.m and conclude on Saturday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m.
Travel
Participants are responsible for coordinating their travel to and from the workshop. Maps and directions to Florida A&M are available on the Florida A&M website. The opening session of the workshop is at the The Carrie Meek-James N. Eaton, Sr. Southeastern Regional Black Archives Research Center and Museum
Travel by Air
Tallahassee International Airport is the main airport in Tallahassee. We recommend arriving no later than 4:00 p.m. on October 26 and departing after 4:00 p.m. on October 27 because travel to and from the airport takes 15 minutes.
Ground Transportation
The Four Points by Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown does not provide shuttle service. However the hotel does have a partnership with Uber For other options to and from the airport, please consult the Tallahassee International Airport Ground Transportation Guide
Traveling Directions to Florida A&M University
Traveling from Tallahassee Regional Airport:
Exit right, onto Capital Circle go east until you reach traffic light (Springhill Road). Turn left onto Springhill Road and continue north until you reach Orange Avenue. Turn right onto Orange Ave. to Wahnish Way. Turn left onto Wahnish Way about ½ mile until you reach campus. Bragg Memorial Stadium is on the left behind the Army ROTC bldg. (Howard Hall). Turn left into the Howard Hall/Bragg Stadium entrance; drive all the way down until you reach the stadium and park on the left side.
Traveling East on Interstate 10: (Alabama, Pensacola):
Take Exit 192, which will put you on US Highway 90. Drive about 10 miles east on Highway 90 and turn right onto Macomb Street (there is a Popeye's Chicken on the corner). Continue on Macomb; the name of the street will change to Railroad Ave. when it intersects Gaines Street. Continue on Railroad Avenue; the street name will change again to Wahnish Way when it intersects FAMU Way (you are now on Campus). Continue up the hill on Wahnish and go through the intersection of Gamble Street; you will pass the Student Services Center and the Parking Garage. Bragg Memorial Stadium is on the right, behind the Army ROTC bldg. (Howard Hall). Turn right into the Howard Hall/Bragg Stadium entrance; drive all the way down until you reach the stadium and park on the left side.
Traveling West on Interstate 10 (From I-75 or I-95):
Take Exit 209A, which will put you on US Highway 90, still traveling west. Continue on Highway 90 (also called Tennessee St.) for another 8 miles; go through the Monroe Street intersection. Travel another .5 miles and turn left onto Macomb Street (there is a Popeye's Chicken on the corner). Continue on Macomb; the name of the street will change to Railroad Ave. when it intersects Gaines Street. Continue on Railroad Avenue; the street name will change again to Wahnish Way when it intersects FAMU Way (you are now on Campus). Continue up the hill on Wahnish and go through the intersection of Gamble Street; you will pass the Student Services Center and the Parking Garage. Traveling South from Atlanta and Points North:
Take U.S. 319 South through Thomasville, Ga. As you approach Tallahassee, Highway 319 becomes Thomasville Road. When you pass Killarney Way/Maclay Blvd., stay to the right, on Thomasville Road. (Do not follow Highway 319 as it veers left onto Capital Circle.) After you cross under Interstate 10, stay on Thomasville Road for about 4 miles and turn left onto Monroe St. (US Highway 27). Continue on Monroe until you reach Tennessee Street. Turn right onto Tennessee Street; continue west on Tennessee until you reach Macomb Street; turn left onto Macamb (there is a Popeye's Chicken on the corner). Traveling West/North on US Highway 27 (Apalachee Parkway):
Apalachee Parkway ends at the Capital Building. Get into the outside left lane, and turn left onto Monroe Street. At the second red light turn right onto Gaines Street. Continue on Gaines and turn left onto Railroad Avenue. Railroad Avenue will turn into Wahnish Way at the FAMU Way Intersection. Continue up the hill on Wahnish Way and go through the Gamble Street intersection; you will pass the Visitor Information Center, the Student Services Center and the Parking Garage. Bragg Memorial Stadium is on the right, behind the Army ROTC bldg. (Howard Hall). Turn right into the Howard Hall/Bragg Stadium entrance; drive all the way down until you reach the stadium and park on the left side.

Accommodations
A hotel block has been reserved at the Four Points Sheraton Tallahassee Downtown. We will be making the hotel reservations for accepted participants following the close of the application period.
Rooms will be double occupancy.
Communications
There is Internet access at hotel and workshop buildings.
Meals
Breakfast is available at the hotel for a fee.
For lunches and dinners, we will have a combination of dining hall and catered meals with time for excursions to local restaurants. All meals will include vegetarian offerings. Please provide information on the registration form if you require special meals. The price of all meals during the workshop is covered.
