Workshop GoalsI believe the following goals of the workshop were met:

a. Educate faculty/administrators/staff on the topic of undergraduate research within community college environment and why it is important. Introduce the benefits of student engagement in authentic research early-on

b. Introduce faculty/administrators/staff to the various models for integrating research into courses, curriculum and the community college environment

c. Establish a community of STEM faculty/administrators/staff interested in mentoring students in research

d. Engage faculty in the awareness and benefit of science-practice of within their disciplines

e. Present an awareness of the barriers and challenges, e.g., stipend, infrastructure and research expenses

f. Initiate Student recruitment strategies

g. Examine college, government and industry partnerships
