Workshop Details

This workshop will be help at Tennessee State University located in Nashville, TN. All scheduled workshop events will be on the Tennessee State University campus in the Farrell-Westbrook Complex rooms 117-119. The program will begin on Thursday evening, February 2nd, at 5 pm and will conclude at 2 pm on Saturday, February 4th. If you cannot arrive on Thursday in time for the 5 pm opening session and dinner, please plan to travel on Wednesday and indicate that on your travel information form.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their travel to and from the workshop. Maps and directions to Tennessee State University are available on the Tennessee State University website.

Travel by Air

Nashville International Airport is the main airport in Nashville. We recommend arriving no later than 4:00 pm on February 2nd and departing after 4:00 pm on February 4th because travel to and from the airport takes 20 minutes.   • Alternate transportation: Gray Line Airport Express 615-275-1180; fee: 14 USD (one way)- on request
  • Bus service, fee: 20 USD (one way)

Travel by Car

From the north, via I-65, or the northwest, via I-24:

  • Approaching Nashville, I-24 merges with I-65.
  • Continue south on I-65 to I-40 and proceed west.
  • From I40 West, take exit 207 for 28th Ave.
  • Turn right onto 28th Ave N (signs for Meharry).
  • Turn left onto John A Merritt Blvd (0.2 mi) to arrive
  • James E. Farrell - Fred Westbrook Hall - Agriculture Research & Extension

From the south, via I-65, or from the southeast, via I-24:

  • Travel North towards I-40 West
  • Take I-40 West to exit 207 for 28th Ave.
  • Turn right onto 28th Ave N (signs for Meharry).
  • Turn left onto John A Merritt Blvd (0.2 mi) to arrive

From the East via I-40

  • Take I-40 West to exit 207 for 28th Ave.
  • Turn right onto 28th Ave N (signs for Meharry).

From Interstate 440 & Four-Forty Parkway

  • Head north toward I-40 E (follow instructions from West below)

From the west: Interstate 40

  • Merge onto I-40 E
  • Take exit 207 for Jefferson St
  • Sharp left onto Jefferson St (signs for Tenn State Univ)
  • Continue straight onto John A Merritt Blvd
  • Arrive James E. Farrell - Fred Westbrook Hall - Agriculture Research & Extension

Accommodations

A hotel block has been reserved at the Holiday Inn - Nashville/Vanderbilt arriving Thursday, February 2 and departing Saturday, February 4. Reservations for double occupancy will be made for you. Single room upgrade option deadline was January 20, 2017.

Communications

Internet access at hotel and workshop buildings are available.

Meals

For lunches and dinners, we will have a combination of dining hall and catered meals with time for excursions to local restaurants. All meals will include vegetarian offerings. Please provide information on the egistration form if you require special meals. The price of all meals during the workshop is covered.

Nashville, TN

Nashville is the capital of Tennessee and on the Cumberland River. Nashville's weather in February is moderate (the average high for February 2nd is 52 degrees F, while the average low is 32). Please check the weather close to the workshop to prepare for snow, rain, or sun! It's about a five-block walk to the meeting space from the hotel and downtown is about 2-3 blocks from the hotel.
