Travel and Logistics for InTeGrate Authors May Meetings
Carleton College, May 19-24, 2013
New (2013) module teams are scheduled to participate during the first part of the week— from the evening of Sunday, May 19 to Wednesday, May 22. Plan on arriving the morning or afternoon of Sunday, May 19 (before 3:45pm) and departing after 3pm on Wednesday, the 22nd.
Continuing (2012) module teams are scheduled to participate during the second part of the week— from the afternoon of Tuesday, May 21 to Friday, May 24. Plan on arriving in the morning or early afternoon on the 21st (before 3:45pm) and departing after 3pm on Friday, the 24th.The meeting venue will be Carleton's new Weitz Center for Creativity
Travel by Air
Air travelers should fly into the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport. Ground transportation to and from the airport (a 45 minute drive) will be arranged for you based on your travel information that you submit to us via the travel submission form.
Travel by Car
Directions from Minneapolis/St. Paul to Northfield- I-35W South to Highway 19 East (exit 69, Northfield exit).
- Drive east on Highway 19, 11 miles to Northfield.
- At the first stop light (where Highway 19 merges with Highway 3), turn left.
- Country Inn is immediately on your left.
If you are driving north to Northfield, the directions from I-35 are the same. Just watch for exit 69 from the other direction. Please fill out the travel submission form to inform the conveners of your travel plans and when you plan to arrive.
Travel Reimbursement
Meeting expenses including travel, food, and lodging will be covered. You will need to provide us a copy of your original receipts. Forms and further detail is provided on the travel reimbursement website. The deadline to submit receipts for reimbursement is June 28, 2013.
Lodging
Double Occupancy room reservations have been made for everyone attending the workshop at the Northfield Country Inn. A limited number of single occupancy rooms are available, with the understanding that you will be responsible for the additional cost ($45 per night) payable through the payment page. If you need other arrangements, please contact Krista 507-222-5634 or include information in your travel submission form. All hotel rooms provide free internet access. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool.
The airport shuttle will deliver you to the hotel or to the new Weitz Center on Carleton's campus (where the meeting will take place), depending on your time of arrival. Directions to the Weitz Center will be available at the hotel desk. (See above for location of The Country Inn if you are driving yourself.)
Communications
You will have a telephone in your room at the Country Inn and messages can be left at the hotel desk - 507-645-2286. The Country Inn also offers free wireless internet access throughout their building. Internet access will also be available in the meeting room.
Meals
We will have a combination of dining hall and catered meals during the meeting. All meals will include vegetarian offerings. Please provide information on the travel information form if you require special meals. The price of all meals and gratuities during the workshop is covered. However, the NSF grant does not cover alcoholic beverages. Alcoholic drinks may be available for purchase during some meal times. The Country Inn will serve complimentary continental breakfast each morning.
What to expect
Northfield is a small town about 35 miles south of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. May can be rainy, so come prepared with an umbrella. It's about a five-block walk to the meeting space from the hotel and downtown is about 2-3 blocks from the hotel. Please let us know if you have any concerns about accommodations or mobility.
