Pre-Workshop Meetings
Three pre-workshop meetings in April and May. Details and documents from pre-workshop meetings
Travel
Accepted participants will be provided reimbursement for reasonable travel costs as long as they attend the pre-workshop meetings and the workshop in its entirety.

Travel by Air
Denver International Airport (DEN) is the closest airport to Golden, CO. We ask that you plan to arrive on by 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 4, and depart no earlier than 2:30 pm June 8, so that you can attend the whole workshop.
Participants flying into the Denver area have two options for obtaining plane tickets:
1) Purchase their own flights and be reimbursed after the workshop
OR
2) Work with the EarthScope travel agent to book the ticket (Note: agent is still awaiting EarthScope payment info so flight purchases may not start until ~April 25 or 26)
Ground Transportation to/from Denver Airport
- Getting to Colorado School of Mines from Denver International Airport
- Arriving before June 4 - you are responsible for getting yourself to Golden, CO before the 4:00 pm program start if you fly into Denver prior to June 4.
- If you would like to arrive via Denver RTD Light Rail, take the W Line from to Jefferson County Government Center - Golden Station. If you arrange ahead of time workshop leaders can pick you up from the light rail station at either 12:28 pm or 2:28 pm (Note: trains come every 30 minutes on Sundays but we can only commit to two pick-up times)
- Lyft/Uber or friend/family drop off - see instructions below
- Arriving on June 4 - participants will take a ride share (Lyft, Uber) together in groups of 2-3 people based on arrival times. Workshop conveners will connect you with the people who are coming in at a similar time. We ask that one member of the group pay for the ride and then turn in the receipt for reimbursement.
- A good place to be dropped is 17th St. & Maple St. ("39.749049, -105.221676" or "Colorado School of Mines Maple Hall"). Note: Maple St. is a pedestrian walkway in this area but 17th St. can be driven on. This will bring you to the NW corner of Maple Hall. If you just ask for "Colorado School of Mines" you may end up dropped off somewhere else on campus.
- Arriving before June 4 - you are responsible for getting yourself to Golden, CO before the 4:00 pm program start if you fly into Denver prior to June 4.
- Returning to Denver International Airport June 8
- Shuttles will be provided from Maple Hall at 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Thursday June 8. Participants can select the shuttle they wish to take based on their flight departure time. People with later flights can go to the airport at noon OR stay in the Mines campus or Golden, CO area until the the 3:00 pm shuttle.
Travel by Rail
There are Amtrak routes that serve the Denver region. If you choose to come via rail, follow the same basic guidance as for purchasing plane tickets (above).
Travel by Car

- Parking is free on Sundays.
- Workshop will provide parking passes for Monday-Thursday. Parking passes will be good for street parking or lots shown in blue. Lots D, Elm, and CT appear to be similar distances from Maple Hall. Some street parking might get you closer.
- In order to get a parking pass, you must provide this information at check-in
- First and last name of driver participant
- Car make, model, and color
- License plate state and number
- Dates pass will be required for this person/car (June 5-8, 2023)
Accommodations
Check-in will be available starting 1:00 pm Sunday June 4. Tell them you are with the "Math Module Development Workshop".
(You may be able to check-in sooner if a staff person is at the reception desk and the room is available.)
Participants will stay in 2-person suites in the Maple Residence Hall on the Colorado School of Mines campus. Each person will have a private bedroom and many people will share a bathroom with one other participant. Bookings will be made for participants for the nights of June 4-7 (four nights). Linens will be provided. Laundry machines are available in the building if participants wish to wash their own clothes or other items during the week.
Communications
Colorado School of Mines offers free wireless internet access throughout their buildings. Cellular reception is good throughout the region.
Meals
Workshop organizers will do their best providing meals that match participant dietary needs. Be sure to provide information about dietary needs in the Participant Travel Information form. Breakfasts will be available from a campus dining facility (Mines Market). Lunches, beverage, snacks, and some dinners will be in the workshop meetings rooms (Green Center). Some evenings participants will be free to choose their own dinner location (per diem reimbursed). A variety of restaurants are available a few blocks away in downtown Golden. Travel day meals and Mon/Wed dinners will be reimbursed at per diem rates.
Weather
Typical weather in the Denver-Golden Colorado area in early June has highs of ~75F and lows ~55F with possible range of 45-85F. Usually it is sunny but rain is possible -- particularly afternoon thunderstorms.
Packing

- Coffee mug (to minimize use of disposables)
- Water bottle (to minimize use of disposables)
- (opt.) Text books from your discipline with quantitative examples
COVID-19
The workshop organizers continue to monitor the state of the COVID-19 pandemic. We plan to follow the local health orders for Jefferson County and Colorado School of Mines. At the time of writing (April 20, 2023) there were no active COVID-related public health orders. We will have tests, masks, and hand sanitizer available for participants to use if they wish.
