1. What does your image show? Please briefly describe it.This image shows the decreasing amount of water in the Aral Sea.
2. What measurements did you get for each of the three areas highlighted in red?
The area of water decreases over time.
area perimeter
1 5941000000 404000
2 4379312500 404000
3 2995125000 404000
3. In what ways can you imagine incorporating ImageJ techniques and/or satellite data into your teaching?
I can use it with the decreasing glaciers because I teach a global warming class. I can use the Aral Sea with my students as inquiry and ask them questions such as: What do you think is happening here? Why do you think this is happening? What effects could this have on the people that live in the area? I think that allowing students to look at and interpret data will make them feel like "real" scientists and thus make them more interested and engaged in the learning experience.
4. What lingering questions (if any) do you have from today's workshop? Non at the moment! :)
