The quiz and the related video have two learning objectives: 1) Students can describe the characteristics of a tectonic plate; 2) Students can use the patterns of earthquakes and volcanoes to draw the approximate locations of the plate boundaries on a world map

The short answer question asks students to draw and label the approximate locations of the tectonic plates on a blank world map.

Description and Teaching Materials

After watching the associated video, students complete the quiz to ensure that they have a working knowledge of some basic content related to tectonic plates. This provides the instructor with more time in the subsequent class to incorporate active learning exercises that include application of higher order thinking skills.
