Choose Your Sessions for the Virtual NSF Visit

If you will be participating in the virtual visit to NSF, complete the following form by May 1. Be sure to hit the SUBMIT button before leaving this page or your information will be lost.

Important: please read!
Going to NSF is a great opportunity! To make the most of your visit, here is what we recommend:
  1. Choose one or more small group session(s) for the morning. You can only go to one meeting during each concurrent session.
  2. We recommend that you meet with a program officer after the conclusion of the workshop. See the section on individual meetings (below) for details.
  3. In the form below, you will be asked to choose your top two choices for the concurrent sessions. The schedule and available sessions are tentative and will be finalized based on Program Officer availability. Your choices may be modified later if your priorities change.
  4. Meet with another program director, if your research does not easily fall into just one program.

(Please Note: Your email address is what we use to track your application and participation in the workshop. Be sure to use the same email address in all forms relating to your workshop participation.)
On June 28, we will have optional sessions on various programs at NSF. Some of the small group sessions are concurrent, so we are asking you to prioritize your meeting preferences. Please let us know your program session priorities below.

Friday, June 28

Concurrent Sessions 1
You will have the opportunity to attend one, and only one, small disciplinary group meeting with a program director (e.g., tectonics, hydrologic sciences, and so forth). All of these sessions happen simultaneously, so it is not possible to attend more than one. Please select the program you would like to attend. If your discipline is not listed, then please select "Other" and write in your program area preference or other comments in the space provided.

Individual Meetings
If you have an idea for a proposal, we recommend that you meet with the appropriate program director to discuss your idea and get some feedback about it. This is part of the program directors' jobs, and it is something that they generally enjoy. Your idea does not need to be fully fleshed out, but you should be able to articulate the problem or question you want to study, why it is important, and some thoughts about how you will approach it, so that you can have a meaningful and productive conversation with them.

Visit the NSF website to identify the appropriate programs and find the contact information for those directors. We strongly recommend that you make those appointments for dates after June 28. This resource provides tips for reaching out to program directors.

If you are interested in discussing the CAREER program and would submit your proposal to a program in the Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) or Earth Sciences (EAR) division, you would meet with the relevant disciplinary program director. If you would submit your proposal to the Ocean Sciences Division (OCE), you would meet with the relevant disciplinary program director and with someone in the Ocean education program.
