Early Career Geoscience Faculty: Annual Workshops

Annual Workshops

Each summer, we offer a multi-day workshop in a stimulating and resource-rich environment where early career geoscience faculty members participate in sessions on topics including effective teaching strategies, course design, establishing a research program in a new setting, working with research students, balancing professional and personal responsibilities, and time-management.

Participants of these workshops must have a full-time faculty position at a two-year or four-year college or a university at the time of the workshop and must be in their first three years of full-time teaching.

Other Workshops

In addition to our annual workshops, we sometimes run half-day to one-day workshops in association with professional society meetings. The pages below describe those opportunities.

2011 GSA Workshop: Preparing for the Tenure Process

This 3-hour workshop, held in association with the annual 2011 GSA meeting, focuses on making your strongest case for tenure and preparing your tenure package.

2009 AGU Workshop: Preparing for Tenure

This one day workshop, held in association with the fall 2009 AGU meeting, focused on making your strongest case for tenure and preparing your tenure package.

2008 GSA Early Career Workshop: Making The Case for Tenure

In this all-day workshop on Saturday, October 4, 2008, participants learned about successful strategies for building your teaching case for tenure and preparing your tenure package.

2007 GSA Early Career Workshop: Making The Case for Tenure

In this all-day workshop on Saturday, October 27, 2007, participants learned about successful strategies for building your teaching case for tenure and preparing your tenure package.

This workshop is part of the On the Cutting Edge professional development program for current and future geoscience faculty. On the Cutting Edge is sponsored by the National Association of Geoscience Teachers with funding provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Undergraduate Education under grants #0127310, #0127141, #0127257, and #0127018.
