We define the term "anomaly" and compare the views of climate scientists and the American public about climate change. We examine temperature differences over a variety of time frames (the last 150 years, 1000 years, and 800,000 years). Evidence for modern warming trends are indicated by data the distribution of snow and ice and from the oceans.
