Workshop Timing

The main workshop program will begin on Sunday evening, October 14, 2018, at 5 pm at Carleton College. The workshop will conclude at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 16. If you cannot arrive on Sunday in time for the 5 pm opening session and dinner, please plan to travel on Saturday instead, so that you can be present for the entire workshop.

Review Camp

Workshop participants who have volunteered to participate in the activity review should plan to attend a Review Camp on Sunday, October 14th prior to the start of the main workshop program. Reviewers should plan to travel on Saturday so that they can attend the entire Review Camp.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their travel to and from the workshop. Maps and directions to Carleton College are available on the Carleton College website. Book your travel early!

Travel by Air

Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport is the closest airport to Northfield. We recommend arriving no later than 3:30 pm on October 14 and departing after 4:30 pm October 16. Travel to and from the airport takes approximately 45 minutes.

Airport shuttles

Ground transportation to and from the airport will be arranged for you based on your arrival and departure times if you provide us with that information in advance, via the travel information form. We will provide you with estimated shuttle pick-up times. The shuttle service will be aware of your scheduled arrival time and will have your cell phone number. Please proceed to the Baggage Claim area, as you will walk out of the airport building, DOOR 4, to meet the First Choice Shuttle car/van from the baggage claim area. They will not have any markings on their vehicle so they can come up to the curb. They will be awaiting your call! When you call, they will confirm your pickup time and the color/type of vehicle you should watch for. First Choice Shuttle: 507-339-1651.

We understand how unpredictable air travel can be, so don't be alarmed if your flight is early or delayed. Just let First Choice Shuttle (507-339-1651) know of your new arrival time, as soon as possible.

Travel by Rail

There are Amtrak routes that serve the Minneapolis-St Paul region.

Accommodations

A hotel block has been reserved at the Northfield Country Inn and Suites, arriving Sunday, October 14 and departing Tuesday, October 16. Reservations must be made no later than Sunday, September 30 (the room block will be released after this date). To make your reservations, call 507-645-2286 and tell them you are part of the MATLAB workshop to receive the discounted group rate of $80 per night + tax. Note: because they are holding a large number of rooms for us, if you don't tell them you are with the MATLAB workshop, they will tell you they are full. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning.

It's about a seven-block walk to the meeting space from the hotel and downtown is about 2-3 blocks from the hotel. Please let us know if you have any concerns about accommodations or mobility. If you need other arrangements, please include that information on your registration form.
