Geoscientists face unique challenges, often navigating isolation in the field, laboratory, and virtual learning environments. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, these feelings of exclusion and isolation have become more pronounced, impacting the mental well-being of geoscientists. In addition, structural bias and discrimination based on race and ethnicity, gender identity, disability, and the complexities of hidden disabilities, including chronic illness and mental health issues, have grown substantially, necessitating a collective effort to foster safe and supportive working environments.

Join us for a one-day workshop, focused on building community and gathering information from attendees and psychologists to help us assess how mental health is being addressed in formal and informal geoscience communities, and identify outstanding needs. This information will help us to create resources, fill gaps, and build the path forward, focused on raising awareness of the challenges experienced by many geoscientists and sharing best practices implemented by universities, companies, and colleagues.
