- Icebreaker - discussions of challenges and solutions
- TMYN-Majors project overview
- Activity: In-depth review of one module
- Homework: Complete Quantitative Skills Inventory (Participant workspaces > find your page)
Tuesday July 15 - Day 2
Goals: Evidence-based teaching practices | TMYN-Majors Instructional Guide | Start implementation planning
- Presentation: Making it work in your classes
- Evidence-based teaching practices for math and statistics learning
- Essential components of "TMYN-Majors model" for successful implementation
- Activity: Start implementation plans
- Homework:
- Log into WAMAP and notify leaders if you have any issues
- Your WAMAP account has been created for you
- Username is whatever the characters are before the @ symbol on the email address you used to register for this workshop. (Ex. darens@highline.edu would have the WAMAP username darens)
- Password is "Password1"
- If not working, email Rory and Eric by ≥2 hours before Wednesday start
- Your WAMAP account has been created for you
- Complete any elements you haven't finished from Day 2 Implementation Planning (Questions 2-6), including refining based on colleague input.
- Log into WAMAP and notify leaders if you have any issues
Wednesday July 16 - Day 3
Goals: Further implementation planning | Set up a course in WAMAP
- Activity: Continue working on implementation plans
- Presentation & Activity: Introduction to the WAMAP testing software and starting your own course and assessment
- Homework: Review implementation plans of 3-4 assigned colleagues and leave at least one question/comments
Thursday July 17 - Day 4
Goals: Present final implementation plans | Forward-looking discussions
- Activities:
- Implementation plan presentations & discussions
- Forward-looking discussions on quantitative skills in Earth science
- End of Workshop survey
