Geoscience Education Infrastructure Planning Meeting

November 3-5, 2019
Carleton College, Northfield, MN

Synthesis Report »

Over the last 18 years the Science Education Resource Center (SERC) has, through partnerships with NAGT and across the broader geoscience education community, developed an infrastructure that supports this community in improving geoscience education. The infrastructure includes both a technical platform (Serckit) and a complementary suite of practices spanning from project management to community engagement. This meeting will bring together community members to reflect on the current state of this infrastructure and envision how it could be strengthened to better serve the community.

The meeting report will make recommendations in 4 areas:

  1. Priorities for strengthening existing infrastructure elements including the underpinning cyberinfrastructure.
  2. Strategies for bringing the infrastructure into wider use, including addressing any barriers to use by different elements of the community.
  3. Additions to the infrastructure that would enhance use including within geoscience education research.
  4. Use of the infrastructure to support improvements in diversity, equity and inclusion in geoscience education and geoscience education research.
