This activity is a brief quiz to be completed at beginning of course that provides information to instructor about the internet access and computer resources of each student as well as assesses whether student has reviewed syllabus, is ready to begin class, and understands the rigor of an online, and has noted due dates of major assignments.
Activity is not "subject matter" specific, but can be modified to use in any course.

Student begin to appreciate the rigor and assignments on an online class.

This is part of first assignment in the class and serves as an introduction to the course policies.

Description of the activity/assignment
This survey provides the instructor with information to help troubleshoot problems that students may experience working online. The activity also alerts students to the rigor and principal assignments of the course as well as the importance of reviewing and understanding the course syllabus.
Determining whether students have met the goals
The instructor can review quiz results quickly to identify any potential issues in study habits and preparation for the course. More information about assessment tools and techniques.
