Assessing Computation with Projects

Blain Patterson, Applied Math, Virginia Military Institute

I feel that computational skills are best assessed through projects. However, these projects are often done in small groups, so it can be difficult to determine how the workload is being split. At VMI in particular, it is common for students to divide and conquer because of their extremely packed schedules. This often leads to one student doing all of the work on one project. I am curious if folks have any insight into how to better assess computation with small group projects.
