Travel Arrangements

The workshop will be held at AGU Headquarters in Washington, DC. It will begin at 8:30 am Friday May 16, and end at 3:00 pm on Saturday May 17.

AGU has funding from the National Science Foundation to cover the costs of the 2003 Linkages Workshop, but the grant is not large. AGU will cover the following participant costs: round-trip airfare, train, bus, or personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed) to Washington, DC; taxis while in DC; airport parking at your point of origin; and up to 3 nights lodging in DC.

We strongly encourage you to arrive on the evening of May 15 and stay over the night of Saturday May 17, in order to minimize airfare. Note that we do not have sufficient funds to cover car rentals, so if you choose to rent a car, the rental and parking costs (which are steep in DC) will be your responsibility. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided during the meeting both days; a group dinner will be provided on Friday night only.

EWA Travel will be handling travel arrangements for the Linkages Workshop. Please contact Desriene Wills-Jarrett by E-mail or phone 703-988-9084 to arrange your airline transportation. Be sure to indicate to her that you are part of the AGU Linkages Workshop. In general, Reagan National Airport is the closest to AGU Headquarters. The Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI) tends to be much less expensive (especially if you can fly Southwest Airlines) and is not much farther than Reagan National. It is possible to take an Amtrak train from BWI to Union Station or take the metro to get into downtown DC. Dulles Airport tends to be most expensive of the three local airports and is farthest from AGU, but it is also a possibility.
