This encompass topics such as curriculum design, informal education strategies, universal design for learning, and specific classroom approaches. It includes both educational research and applied practice. (Includes simple materials development.)

Research on Learning
This site aggregates resources collected and developed for and in response to a 2002 workshop: Bringing Research on Learning to the Geosciences. The website seeks to further the conversations that were begun at the workshop regarding areas where learning scientists and geoscientists have complementary interests and expertise. SERC hosts the workshop materials and those from a range of related events and activities.

CLEAN
The CLEAN Pathway provides a reviewed collection of classroom materials for teaching climate literacy and energy awareness for students in grades 6-16. Hallmarks of the project include the collection of educational materials, a set of pedagogic strategies for teaching these topics, and an ongoing series of professional development events for teachers and faculty. SERC provides the web platform for CLEAN as well as the tools utilized for review.

Teaching Quantitative Skills in the Geosciences
Quantitative skills are an essential tool for both the geoscientist and the citizen. This site provides resources for faculty that include pedagogic methods, teaching resources, supporting materials for students and a discussion of the issues. SERC was the leader of the project, planned and implemented the professional development workshops that generated content for the project, and hosts the website.

The project's primary goal is to enhance access to high-quality Earth education resources by understanding how educators use SERC's materials, improving SERC's infrastructure and organization for easier access, and expanding discoverable resources through partnerships. Learn about the what, why, and how to implement more than 30 effective pedagogies, each of which is paired with a collection of ready-to-use activities. SERC has partnered with collaborators across disciplines to create a multi-disciplinary collection.
