IMPACT: Welcome to Preparing the Next Generation!

Welcome to the Advancing Scientific Ocean Drilling IMPACT: Preparing the Next Generation workshop community! We are delighted to accept your application to participate in our virtual workshop next month. Collectively, you are a diverse group of participants with an exciting range of perspectives. We expect our conversations to be lively and informative.

Our synchronous workshop sessions will take place on August 2nd and 4th from 15:00 - 18:00 Eastern. An overview of our current workshop program is available here, and we'll continue to update the details as the sessions approach.

In preparation for our synchronous sessions, we do ask that you complete a series of short tasks. These will provide our workshop community with a shared knowledge base and will help us to make the most of our discussions. Please see this checklist and plan some time in your schedule to prepare for the workshop. The first task is to complete our short survey. This has a deadline of July 23rd to enable the organizers to collate results ready to present on the first day.

We expect to begin the real work of the workshop in our asynchronous discussion group/threads, flow those discussions into the live events, and continue group conversations afterwards. We hope these efforts will be effective and provide additional time to cover more ground on these important topics than would be possible in the synchronous sessions alone. The discussion board and various threads will also allow multiple methods of interaction and opportunities to build on conversations that get started in one place or the other. Please feel free to start discussion threads! And introduceyourselves to each other on our Introductions page!

If you have any questions, or if you are no longer able to attend this workshop, please contact Carol Cotterill at carol.cotterill.usssp@gmail.com.

We very much value your participation in this workshop and look forward to seeing you!
