COVID-19 Policies and Information
The National Association of Geoscience Teachers and the Earth Educators' Rendezvous planning committee continue to monitor the state of the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, we are planning for an in-person conference in Philadelphia. We are doing what we can to keep all Rendezvous attendees safe and reduce the risk associated with an in-person event. The following policies and requirements are designed to minimize the risk to individuals and our community while also following venue, local, state, and federal health guidelines. By implementing these policies, NAGT and the EER planning committee are asking attendees to protect the community and each other, while continuing to participate in a diverse, inclusive, and thriving community.

Vaccination and Testing Requirements
Vaccination and testing requirements for the 2024 Earth Educators' Rendezvous are dependent on the guidelines of our host institutions, Temple University. The COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly and conditions may warrant modification of these requirements.
Rendezvous attendees will be asked to affirm either that they are vaccinated or will have a 3rd party test 72 hours before event and only attend if negative when registering.
Currently, unless otherwise posted, Temple University encourages but does not require all visitors to be vaccinated and boosted. Some locations may require masking, which will be posted. See the Temple University coronavirus informational page for additional details.
If you are staying in campus lodging, Temple University will not be requiring vaccination verification for participants, but they recommend antigen testing prior to arrival. If you participant tests positive, please do not attend the conference or stay in campus housing.
Face Coverings
Rendezvous attendees are required to follow the Temple University masking rules. Guests can wear masks according to their comfort level. If you have upper respiratory symptoms, cough or fever, you are strongly encouraged to wear a mask. Some areas may require masking.
While strongly recommended, masks are not required in any other indoor or outdoor settings. You may ask colleagues and others to wear a mask, but they aren't required to wear one. Please be respectful of those who choose to wear a mask, as well as those who choose not to wear one.
Symptoms
Please do not attend events associated with the Rendezvous if you are experiencing symptoms associated with COVID-19:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
