Dear Rendezvous Participant,

We are very much looking forward to hosting the sixth annual Earth Educators' Rendezvous from July 13-17, 2020, held online! Please see below for several important updates and also review the Participant information, including participant expectations:

Sunday's Opening Reception

We invite you to join us for the Opening Reception for the 2020 Earth Educators' Rendezvous, taking place via Zoom on Sunday, July 12! Take this opportunity to meet new colleagues, catch up with old ones, and anticipate a great week of Earth education. Rendezvous leaders will summarize the program and give you a heads-up about how things will start on Monday morning. We will also have a couple of informal activities designed to help you find out more about your fellow participants. Come join us and ease your way into what will be an exciting week!

Welcome Video

Get ahead of the game and prep yourself for the week by watching the informative welcome video, presented by Anne Egger (NAGT Executive Director), and Lynsey LeMay and Rachel Teasdale (Rendezvous Co-Conveners) as they provide an overview of the Online Rendezvous, including navigating the program and what to expect throughout the week.

Event Connection Info

As mentioned in the informative welcome video, we will provide Zoom connection info via two methods: 1. through an email each day and 2. posted on each event summary page. You can easily navigate to the event summary page from the Rendezvous Program Grid. In order to see the connection info on the event web pages, you will need to be logged in to your SERC account using the email address you had registered for the Rendezvous with. You can try it out on the bottom of the Opening Reception event page.

Contributed Program Materials

All Rendezvous participants are welcome to attend the Wednesday afternoon contributed program sessions, regardless of the number or which days they have registered for. Presenters have started posting their materials on their abstract pages, and we invite you to explore those for more information ahead of the Wednesday sessions. You can navigate to the sessions using the buttons at the top of the Contributed Program web page. If you're a presenter, don't forget to review the presenter guidelines and upload your materials.

Plenary Sessions

As with the contributed program, all participants are welcome to attend the Tuesday and Thursday plenary sessions, regardless of the number or which days they have registered for. Learn more about the Plenary Sessions, and speakers Karletta Chief (University of Arizona) and Carl Wieman (Stanford University).

Share Your Aha Moments Throughout the Week

We invite you to please share your "aha moments" throughout the week on the EER Community Idea Album. What changed for you? What inspired you? What surprised you? What encouraged you? We encourage everyone to post your reflections as the experiences happen, rather than waiting until the end of the week. You are welcome to submit as many "aha moments" as you like!

Share a Selfie

To help build a visual sense of community, we'd like to invite everyone to share a selfie of your Rendezvous experience throughout the week. Whether you're Rendezvousing solo, have a furry co-worker, or a tiny human companion; whether you're joining us from a big city, small cabin, or somewhere in between - show us how you're Rendezvousing! We will post this photo on the Rendezvous site, so please keep it clean and appropriate. This is entirely voluntary, so if you're not comfortable having your photo on the public site, please do not upload it.

Thank you for registering for this year's Rendezvous. We look forward to the upcoming week and "seeing" everyone online. Together, we will make this an event to remember!

Sincerely,
Monica Bruckner, on behalf of the Rendezvous conveners
