Good evening,

For those that have arrived in Lawrence, welcome! We are excited to begin our pre-Rendezvous activities tomorrow. A few things to note:

  • Sunday Events
Please look over the Sunday Events Page for information on the field trip itinerary (pre-registration required), the 2018 Rendezvous Review Camp beginning tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. in Ritchie Room 366 of the Earth, Energy and Environment Center (EEEC) Crescent Rd. and Naismith Drive.
  • Check In
Beat the rush and check in early on Sunday afternoon between 3 and 7 p.m. just inside the entrance to the EEEC. Registration check in will continue the rest of the week in this same location from 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. You must check in before attending any events so please allow enough time before your workshop or event begins.
  • Opening Reception (sponsored by University of Kansas Geology and Strabo*)
Join us for the opening reception from 7-8:30 p.m. in Berun Auditorum on the first floor of the EEEC. Take this opportunity to meet new colleagues, catch up with old ones, and anticipate a great week of Earth education. Light appetizers and a no-host/cash only bar. Drink tickets can be purchased at the registration table for $6 each. Only cash/check accepted. *Stop by the Strabo table for a free demonstration of the StraboSpot app that allows the collection of geologic data using a variety of base maps.
  • Code of Conduct at the Rendezvous
NAGT meetings and events foster the exchange of ideas, through open and respectful dialogues at oral and poster sessions, workshops, field trips, short courses, mentorships and other NAGT-supported programs. NAGT promotes, provides, expects and endorses a professional and respectful atmosphere and values a diversity of views and opinions. NAGT's Events Code of Conduct Policy (Acrobat (PDF) 58kB Dec5 18) is important to promoting diversity and creating an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative environment for all people.
  • Earth Educators' Rendezvous Challenge
NAGT is excited to announce that we have received $4000 in pledges for the first ever NAGT Challenge. This Challenge will raise funds for travel stipends to the 2019 Earth Educators' Rendezvous. The only way we can 'unlock' these funds is to raise an additional $4,000 for a dollar-to-dollar match. If we are successful, we will have $8,000 to provide travel stipends for participants to attend the 2019 Rendezvous. Give now through your NAGT Membership account and select the Professional Development Fund.
  • Going green: get Rendezvous info online
Bring your laptop or wireless device: the Rendezvous is "going green" and will not be printing an Official Program. There will be ample maps and signage at the registration desk (and there is a daily PDF schedule for download and/or print at the top of the program) but please have the Rendezvous website bookmarked for accessing program information on your laptop or device. In addition, you may find it handy to have your device at many workshops, mini-workshops, and teaching demos. Forgot what workshops you registered for? No problem, your name tag will include these details.
  • Evening Email
Be sure to check your email for our nightly communication which will include last minute updates and highlights for the upcoming day.
  • Presenting at the Rendezvous?
Review the Presenter Guidelines web page regarding format and how to upload a digital copy of your presentations and materials. If you are presenting a poster, please bring it with you. Oral presentations should be uploaded no later than 8:00 a.m. the morning of your presentation. If you are leading a teaching demo, please bring any materials you may need.
  • Review the Program
We hope that you will take some time to look at the Official Program.and plan how to maximize the Rendezvous offerings for you. While you are expected to attend the full morning workshop for which you registered, you have lots of opportunities to customize the afternoon. Follow a particular theme or mix and match to create your own conference experience—we want to have your time at the Rendezvous be as rewarding and productive as possible! While you can freely move between contributed oral sessions, if you plan to attend an afternoon mini-workshop please stay in the workshop for its full duration.
  • Connect Via Social Media and our Rendezvous Digital Message Board
    Message Board
Looking to share a ride to and from the airport? New to the Rendezvous and looking for lunch/dinner companions? Do you want to follow up with folks following discussions started in your workshop or poster session? Please utilize our digital message board to continue the conversations and networking.
    Twitter
If you know of something that you think other participants should know about, just send a tweet to @nagtgeo and include the hashtag #EarthER18. We'll be gathering all those tweets together on a page so that we can all benefit in near-real time.
    Facebook
The Rendezvous will also be sharing images and posts of interesting things happening via the NAGT Facebook page. Go "Like" us so you'll get these updates as well.
