Instrument Type
WHOLE ROCK ANALYSIS - INAA Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis
Irradiations for Ar-Ar geochronology.
Application:
Whole-rock analysis (major and trace element)
Typical Use:
Multi-element analysis of bulk samples, for precise characterization of major and trace (ppm - ppb) elements.
Conditions for Use:
Submitted samples will be analyzed on a contract basis (i.e. lab personnel will do the work)
User Fees:
See website for current fee schedule. Discounted rates available to academic projects without outside funding, especially preliminary or pilot studies.
Instrument Priorities:
Remote Use:
No.
Sample Preparation:
Approx. 200-500 mg of powdered sample is irradiated; typically no pretreatment is required.
Standard Collections/Lab Blanks:
Element concentrations are determined through direct comparison with NIST standards, usually 1633a, 688, or 278; other standards available.
