Registration and Arrival

1:00 - 6:00 Registration at the Nittany Lion Inn

  • Workshop Registration--Lobby rotunda: Sign in, pick up workshop materials, turn in Medical Emergency Health Form (all participants).
  • Lodging Registration--Front desk: For room check-in, the Nittany Lion Inn front desk is open 24 hours. Rooms are available for occupancy at 3:00 pm, but your luggage may be checked in earlier (on-site lodgers only).

  • Future Directions in Biogeochemistry - Susan Brantley. The session will feature an overview of emerging areas in biogeochemistry and an overview of results from the Biogeochemical Research Initiative for Education NSF-IGERT program. 002 Deike Bldg
  • Developing Meaningful Class Activities: Examples from an Environments of Africa Course - Tanya Furman. Student engagement is critical to the learning enterprise, so this session will focus on specific projects utilizing natural data that have proven successful in multicultural classrooms as well as the process of project development itself. 240 Deike Bldg
  • Careers in Museums - Russ Graham, Director of the Earth and Mineral Sciences Museum. The session will feature an overview of the opportunities for careers in museums including advice on how to position yourself to be competitive for such jobs. 004 Deike Bldg
