Summary

This is an activity designed for sophomore-level Engineering students taking course in Electrical Circuits on the topic of current dividers.

Share your modifications and improvements to this activity through the Community Contribution Tool »

Learning Goals

After completing this activity, the students must be able to

  1. Calculate the current passing through each circuit branch,
  2. Determine the power dissipated by each circuit element,
  3. Design a current divider circuit, and
  4. Model a current divider using MATLAB.

Context for Use

The students taking up the activity for current divider must have mastered the following topics:

  • Simplification of Simple Resistive Circuits (Series and Parallel Connections of Resistors)
  • Ohm's Law
  • Electric Power

The students are also expected to have basic knowledge and some experience in using MATLAB Grader.

Assessment

The MATLAB Grader system will assess the student's solution for completeness and correctness.
