DOI's, ORCID's and your SERC-hosted activities
Greetings SERC Teaching Activity Contributors,
You're receiving this email because you are listed as an author on one or more teaching activities on a SERC-hosted website. We want to let you know about some new features related to your contributions.
- SERC now supports digital object identifiers (DOI's) for pages we host, including the activities and other materials you may have contributed. If you (or anyone else) would like to formally cite your contributions, you can now include a DOI in that citation. DOI's are assigned on request. Just visit your page, click the DOI link under the author information at the top of the page (or in the footer) and fill out the request form. We'll assign a DOI which will then be visible on the page itself. This process will also cause information about the page to flow through Crossref and into the various academic bibliographic databases where it can be discovered and cited. On this example activity you can see how the DOI shows up along with the other author and publication information near the top of the page.
- If you have an ORCID to track your scholarly work, you can now associate that with your SERC account. It will be displayed on your personal profile page, and also be included in the DOI-related metadata sharing described above. To add your ORCID login to your account page, click on 'Edit Personal Info' (the 3rd button in the left column), enter your ORCID into the field directly under your name and click 'Submit these changes'.
Not sure what activities you've contributed to a SERC-hosted site? You can login and visit your account page for a complete list. Or search on your name from the SERC front page and follow the link to your profile page.
Have you revised or updated an activity you submitted in the past? Now is a great moment to share those updates with the community. You can either directly edit pages you have contributed, or use the community contribution tool to share updates on any activity.
As a contributor to SERC-hosted resources, you're part of a vibrant community of educators. For updates on new teaching activities, resources, opportunities, and community news, visit our SERC News and What's New at SERC pages.
Regards,
Sean Fox on behalf of SERC
