Dear Rendezvous Participants,
We hope Monday's sessions were energizing! Tuesday features ourPoster Session and Share-a-thon in the afternoon, so there is a lot to look forward to. Here is everything you need to know:
Breakfast Social
NAGT Southeastern section will meet for a coffee Rendezvous at Piecewise on Devine Street at 7:30am: Southeastern section members are invited to join and have their morning coffee covered by the section while supplies last. Please contact Annie Klyce (annie.klyce@vanderbilt.edu) with any questions.
Poster Setup
If you are presenting a poster, Tuesday is the day to hang it! Volunteers will be available to assist with setup during the following windows: 7:30–8:30am and 11:30am–1:00pm. Please have your poster up and ready by 1pm. All posters must be up for the full time and taken down after the conclusion of the poster session on Tuesday.
Morning Workshops — 8:30–11:30 am
Morning workshops continue today.
Please note: There is a planned brief electrical outage in EWS, Jones and Coker Tuesday at 8:30am. There will be a second outage of the same type on Wednesday at 2pm. It should last approximately 15 seconds. From experience last week, lights come on quickly and wifi reconnects after about a minute. Want to check out triboluminescence during the outage? Pick up a wint-o-green lifesaver at the registration desk ahead of time.
Special Interest Group Sign-Ups and Daily Drawing
Want to gather with colleagues around a specific topic or interest? Special Interest Group (SIG) sign-ups are same-day and first-come, first-served. Look for the whiteboard in Jones 120 next to the Registration desk where you can claim a room and a time for your group to meet. Check it out early and often! The drawing of Tuesday's items will occur at 4:30 by the Registration desk, at which point you can join a SIG.
Lunchtime — 11:30 am–1:30 pm
Lunch is on your own, with three optional tours today:
- Campus Rock Tour (12:00–1:00pm) — meet at the Registration Table by 11:45am.
- Anne Frank Center Tour (12:00–1:00pm, pre-registration required) — meet at the Registration Table by 11:45am (note: this tour will start walking at 11:45am as noted in the pre-EER e-mail).
- Did you miss the Rare Books Tour yesterday? Original works by Darwin, Curie, Lyell and more are still available for viewing on your own Tu-Th from 10-3 in the Hollings Reading Room, which can be accessed through the main level of Thomas Cooper Library at 1322 Greene Street.
Afternoon: Poster Session and Share-a-thon — 1:30–4:00 pm
This afternoon features the Poster Session and Share-a-thon. Posters will be in the Science & Technology Building and the Share-a-thon will be in EWSC and Coker first floor. The session runs in two back-to-back slots:
- 1:30–2:40pm — Half of the poster presenters will be at their posters for Q&A. Share-a-thon presenters will be active throughout this slot;
- 2:50–4:00pm — The other half of the poster presenters will be at their posters. Share-a-thon presenters will continue throughout this slot as well. Share-a-thon will be run as a repetition of the first slot so that poster participants can attend one session.
The Share-a-thon features short interactive overviews of teaching activities contributed by participants prior to the Rendezvous, followed by small-group discussion time. Presenters stay in place for the full session, so you can visit them in either slot.
Even if you are not presenting, this is a fantastic opportunity to browse ideas, get inspired, and have rich conversations. Come ready to explore!
Group Photo
We will take a group photo at 4pm on the steps of the Thomas Cooper Library. Follow the crowd leaving the posters and the Share-a-thon. Keep tagging photos on social media with #EarthER26.
Afternoon Snacks— 3:30–4:30 pm
Recharge with afternoon snacks available in Jones PSC Lobby (registration area).
Evening Activities
Check the social events page for information about evening activities and meet-ups happening all week. There may be something that catches your eye!
LGBTQIA+Allies Meetup: We invite any LGBTQIA participants and allies to meet up for an informal time of food, drinks, and socializing on Tuesday evening. There will be an informal meetup at Transmission Arcade beginning at 6:30pm. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. Plus pinball and video games!! Transmission Arcade is located at 1712 Main St, about a mile from the conference buildings. There won't be a reservation, so we will cluster around tables (and games!) as needed and just hang out as long as people want to.
