9:15 a.m. - Working group breakout sessions – discussion of results and how this maps into what your department and undergraduate program already does. What would need to change?

9:45 a.m. - Preliminary working group reports & group discussion

10:05 a.m. - Break

10:20 a.m. - Discuss additional questions of "Balancing knowing/understanding concepts and developing skills/competencies; breadth versus depth – can't do everything – so what gives? How do you decide?" How is it possible to cover everything recommended while incorporating experiential learning and other interactive teaching?"

10:50 a.m. - Working group reports & group discussion

11:20 a.m. - Action planning; goals for next two days; Monday road check

8:45 a.m. - Presentation/discussion of backward design/matrix approach to program design – using program student learning outcomes to design/revise curriculum.

9:05 a.m. - Each department/program team/individual reflects on Day 1 discussion to identify and record a few key skill/concept/competency goals to focus on in backward design activity. These selected goals are entered into program curricular matrix (participants arrive with program curricular requirements entered in curricular matrix; Excel template provided).

Map one or two identified goals across curricular matrix, reflection on challenges

9:50 a.m. - Share mapping activity among members of break-out group and select one per group to share with whole group

10:05 a.m. - Break

10:20 a.m. - Break out group reporting and discussion of differing approaches and challenges. Discussion of using the matrix for assessment. Discussion of strategies for curricular redesign buy-in and common challenges.

9:05 a.m. - Active learning jigsaw and discussion of effective pedagogies

9:45 a.m. - Mapping pedagogies to program matrix. Where could you try these pedagogies in your program? Each department/program team/individual maps a few pedagogies/student experiences aligned with key skill/concept/competency goals identified from Day 2. Reflect on program linkages and challenges.

10:05 a.m. - Break

10:20 a.m. - Share pedagogy mapping among breakout groups. Report out. Discussion of strategies for (and challenges in) implementing and evaluating pedagogical change.
