  • Breakout Group Instructions
    • Zoom room norms, contribute in writing as well as speaking, keep notes, change rooms if you want, use your camera or not as you are comfortable, information is going to be shared widely within CLASP.
    • There will be multiple groups on the same topic. Aim for not more than 6 participants per breakout room.
    • Your notes page number corresponds to the breakout room number - breakout room 2 will use notes page 2 etc.
  • Breakout groups: Use your group's workspace page (private to workshop participants) to take notes about the following prompts. Please also identify someone to report out one good idea from your group's discussion. Topics for breakouts (choose one):
    1. Advocacy within our institution, advocating for your office, discussions about staffing levels, working with other offices, identifying suboptimal policies. 
      1. Identify opportunities and audiences for advocacy and outreach. How do you highlight and advocate for your work at your institution?
      2. Identify challenges and barriers to advocating and outreach and potential ways to address them (including sharing what has worked at your institution).
    2. Advocacy outside of our institutions, outreach to funders, building partnerships between institutions and professional organizations. 
      1. Identify opportunities and audiences for advocacy and outreach. How do you highlight and advocate for your work outside your institution?
      2. Identify challenges and barriers to advocating and outreach and potential ways to address them (including sharing what has worked for you).

    • What should CLASP be doing or thinking about to facilitate these solutions?
    • What strategies or tools do we need CLASP to employ in order to activate these solutions?

Post-Workshop

  • Leaders and SERC will synthesize what the solutions could be and the recommendations for what CLASP should be doing to support work in overcoming barriers in this area and provide a synthesis document to participants for comment.
