Polar STEAM Logistics Coordinator (full time)

This 1.0 FTE position has responsibility to provide program support to the Polar STEAM PIs across four OSU units including: the STEM Research Center (SRC); Patricia Vallian Reser Center for the Creative Arts (PRAx); the College of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (CEOAS); and Pre-College Programs. The Logistics Coordinator will draft NSF reports, plan NSF site visits, and support engagement with the Network of Experts. They will arrange team meetings, coordinate and maintain project timelines in alignment with field deployments and NSF expectations, coordinate risk management activities and other compliance requirements (e.g. relevant international agreements or field station infectious disease protocols).

The Logistics Coordinator will serve as the field safety coordinator and safety point of contact for 12-24 participants annually who deploy to the Arctic and Antarctic and coordinate all participant logistics for both field and virtual collaborations including outfitting educators and artists, ensuring appropriate room/board/equipment, arranging travel for field deployments, collaborator visits, conference participation, reimbursements and stipends, support preparation of participants in completing physical qualifications, accessing and using appropriate technologies, and completing NSF required deployment documentation. The Logistics Coordinator will work closely with the Outreach and Engagement Lead and other team members to support the process of matching researchers with educators and artists, facilitating virtual safety and programmatic training, planning for appropriate technical support to ensure both virtual and field participants can complete their work, and communicate program activities and impacts to stakeholders and the public. The Logistics Coordinator will serve as a liaison collaborating and supporting relationships with federally contracted logistics operators, research field stations, research vessel ship operations, universities (including minority serving institutions), 2-year colleges, K-12 institutions, and science and technology NGOs.

This position reports to the Lead Principal Investigator within the OSU STEM Research Center and maintains collaborative working relationships with the entire Polar STEAM team, NSF, contractors, stakeholders and participants.
