Regional Field Trip
Following the Teaching geoscience in the Field workshop, we will be running a regional field trip through some highlights of the Rocky Mountains. The trip will run August 17-19, 2010. (Participants should schedule their departure from Bozeman for August 20.) The itinerary for the trip is:- Day 1 - Bozeman, to the Madison Valley (talc mine, Precambrian rocks, river terraces...), Hebgen Lake Earthquake area, West Yellowstone, Firehole River, Midway Geyser Basin, Old Faithful, to Jackson WY
- Day 2 - Teton National Park (morning hike; Signal Mountain), back to Yellowstone, West Thumb area, Hayden Valley, Fishing Bridge, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
- Day 3 - Norris Basin to Mammoth Hot Springs (but due to road construction) or Mount Washburn (hike across a dissected Eocene volcano), Tower Falls, Lamar Valley, Cooke City, Beartooth Highway (Archean basement), Red Lodge, back to Bozeman.
The cost for the field trip is $215. This fee covered the transportation, lodging in Jackson and Yellowstone, light breakfasts, lunches, and snacks during the day, and one dinner. The other two dinners will be on your own. We ask that participant who have already expressed interest in going on the field trip use this PayPal button to pay by June 1, 2010. This will confirm your spot on the trip.
Once the June 1 deadline is past, any remaining spaces for the trip will be opened up to the rest of the participants in the workshop on a first come first served basis. These additional spaces will have to be confirmed by June 6.
