Undergraduate Research in Earth Science Classes: Engaging Students in the First Two Years part of Undergraduate Research:2014 Workshop
Early exposure to research experiences has shown to be effective in the recruitment of students, improved retention and persistence in degree programs, motivation for students to learn and increase self-efficacy, improved attitudes and values about science, and overall increased student success. This workshop will bring together educators from a wide variety of institutional settings and backgrounds with the common goal of sharing ideas about providing authentic research experiences for students in introductory Earth Science courses.
Teaching About Complex Systems Using the STELLA Modeling Software part of Complex Systems:AGU Modeling Workshop 2010
This one-day workshop is a follow-up to the Cutting Edge workshop Teaching about Energy in Geoscience Courses held in May 2009 at the University of Wyoming. The workshop will provide opportunities to learn more about energy issues, as well as focus on how we teach about energy and geoscience. Participants will share and discuss current examples, while exploring how we might better integrate energy in geoscience courses and beyond. Workshop participants will also collaborate to create or refine materials for classroom use.

Using Field Observations and Field Experiences to Teach Geoscience part of Geoscience in the Field:Field Experiences
Field observations and field experiences have traditionally been at the core of geoscience instruction. This session was designed to allow the entire GSA community to come together to share and discuss both traditional and emerging roles of field experiences in teaching geosciences. This site provides a searchable collection of posters about field experiences from a session at the 2004 GSA annual meeting.
