SERC is a hub for community-building, linking together geographically distributed people and organizations and facilitating communities of practice. Through our online presence and synchronous and asynchronous events, we bring together diverse groups of people who share an interest in improving education.

Creating and Supporting Communities

Our work and collaborations with partners from across many institutions form lasting connections. We create settings that connect individuals and foster sustained partnerships through sequences of events, meetings, and workshops. We also provide tools to help keep these connections and interactions alive remotely — using email lists, discussion forums, and collaborative online editing tools hosted on our web platform, Serckit. Our projects and events are designed to tap collective knowledge of existing communities and help build and support communities around STEM education initiatives. Through our long history of project-work, we have developed effective practices in inter-institutional organizing that allow us to provide a backbone to large and geographically dispersed projects and groups.
