Educators play an important role in building local capacity for climate action. This community meeting highlighted strategies to engage students with public policies and community initiatives that impact Midwest climate challenges. Using the "
Science Notes" framework developed by
MOST Policy Initiative, this community meeting discussed
- the value of nonpartisan science research and engagement in evidence-based decision making and
- how educators can incorporate Science Notes (reading, writing, community engagement) into local discussions about climate change policies and programs.
We also generated and shared ideas for how to adapt Science Note writing based on student interests and academic level, as well as local needs and expertise.
