Community Meeting 1: Building Midwest Education Climate Community of Practice

Monday, February, 28, 2022

10am - 12pm CT

This meeting has already taken place. The recording of the meeting is available on the Program page, and a summary of the meeting is available on the Meeting Synthesis page.

This was the first of three community meetings to unite Midwest climate educators - K-12, higher education, and community educators - in a community of practice focused on effective Midwest climate education. At our launch, community meeting participants shared what collaborative opportunities excite them as well as discussed the expertise that they bring to the table. We sought feedback on the needs identified in Midwest Climate Summit Think Tank Series including:

● Developing an understanding of existing curricula across academic partners.

● Creating a knowledge repository.

● Sharing best practices for community-engaged courses.

● Providing opportunity and collaborative space for discussion of relevant topics including core competencies.

Our goal was to build community together and explore directions we might take education in support of Midwest climate action through the realization of an Educator Community of Practice.
