9:30 Setting the stage: overview of summer 2021 IMPACT workshops, context of 2050 Science Framework
10:15 Presentation of BIG IDEAS gleaned from Summer 2021 workshop plus additional ones (welcome!) from any participant. (Links below go to the participant workspace)
- We must work to fortify strategies for communicating relevance of our work.
- We need to become better science storytellers.
- Building new (and leveraging existing) meaningful partnerships is fundamental to advancing our work.
- Developing a coherent and continuing program for professional development, training and materials development is fundamental to the success of our work. Key components include:
- Creating undergraduate research opportunities
- Expanding training programs for early and mid-career scientists
- Building on and creating an exemplary professional development program for K-16 educators
- Mentor training programs
- Maximizing the impact of our current digital resources and expanding our online presence is necessary.
