Logistics
The workshop took place at AGU Headquarters in Washington, DC. We began on Tuesday, June 14, at 8:30 AM and concluded at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15th.
Travel Arrangements
Travel expenses will be paid for by the U.S. Science Support Program, not to exceed Federal guidelines for conference costs in the Washington, D.C. area.
Travel to DC by Air or by Train
If you are traveling to DC for the workshop, we will book your flights or train tickets for you. Please fill out the travel information form to help us with that process. We appreciate your suggestions on which itineraries will work best for you.
Travel by Metro
The nearest metro stop is Dupont Circle, on the Red Line; we are just about 3 blocks north of the station.
Travel by Car (and parking options)
Use your favorite mapping program to find your way to AGU Headquarters at 2000 Florida Avenue NW, Washington, DC, 20009.
The most convenient parking garage is located in the Universal Building and is accessible from two points: (1) Universal North, accessed from T Street, NW, across from the side entrance of the Hilton Washington, and (2) Universal South, accessed from Florida Avenue, NW, across from the front entrance of AGU. There is also a very small PMI garage around the corner from AGU, at 2001 S Street; space is limited. There is some street parking, mostly metered; some may have residential restrictions.
Lodging
Single occupancy rooms will be provided for everyone attending the workshop at the Churchill Hotel. Although you will have to provide a credit card number to book your room online, reservations will be billed to Columbia University. Please book your room by May 14th!
Meals
Breakfasts and lunches will be provided during the workshop. Participants will be on their own, or can self-organize in small groups, for dinners.
Costs
There is no registration fee to attend this workshop, and the U.S. Science Support Program will pay participants' travel and lodging expenses.
Internet
The hotel and the meeting rooms have robust internet access. Please bring a laptop computer or tablet with you, as working groups will be developing collaborative documents in real time.
