These student materials complement the Coastal Processes, Hazards and Society Instructor Materials. If you would like your students to have access to the student materials, we suggest you either point them at the Student Version which omits the framing pages with information designed for faculty (and this box). Or you can download these pages in several formats that you can include in your course website or local Learning Managment System. In the discussion below, we will explore two case studies. The first is the Sumatran tsunami from 2004 which we will use to explore the geologic origin of tsunamis, how tsunamis are generated within the water column, how they travel, and the impacts that they have on shorelines. The second case study will spend time exploring the most recent large-scale tsunami and associated impacts in Japan. Please click the first case study below or in the menu to get started.
