Wednesday, August 10

All morning sessions will take place in CR 219

8:30 Workshop Overview and Introductions - John, Andy, Sarah, and Toni

9:00 Participants pilot test modules in small groups; workshop leader team available to answer questions

10:00 Small group discussions: What would you need to do to fit these materials into one of your courses?

10:20 Round robin discussion: Each group highlights one point that arose from their discussion

10:30 Participants complete the Classroom Adaptation Survey

10:45  Break

11:00  Instructor Stories - Panel Q & A - Carol

Short presentations by workshop leaders and participants who have used the IGUaNA curricular materials in their courses, followed by open Q & A

12:00  Lunch

1:00  Assemble at 9th and Lewis to travel to the field site in the Medicine Bow National Forest

1:30  Participant teams acquire GPR, seismic, and ERT data

Workshop leaders and UW technicians will guide teams of participants in the acquisition of data sets to be analyzed tomorrow. Thursday, August 11

All morning sessions will take place in ESB 1006

8:30  Data processing & interpretation

Participant teams process and interpret the data they collected the previous day, with guidance from the workshop leader team and from University of Wyoming technicians

10:00  Break

10:15  Data processing & interpretation continues

11:00  Plan for the afternoon field activities - Andy

Participant teams discuss how they would teach their students to collect geophysical data in the field

12:00  Assemble at 9th and Lewis to travel to the field site in the Medicine Bow National Forest

12:30  Lunch in the Medicine Bow National Forest

1:30  Participants take turns teaching each other how to collect GPR, seismic, and ERT data

5:00  Return to hotel for closing discussion and workshop evaluation; light snacks provided - Carol and John

Friday, August 12

Morning: OPTIONAL field trip to Blair Wallis and Veedauwoo Rocks. We will visit the remarkable granite outcrops of Veedauwoo that attract geologists, hikers, and rock climbers to the area. We will tour the Veedauwoo Glen trail and offer the chance for scrambling on the boulder fields for those who would like to get their nose on the rocks. The trip will start and end at the hotel. We will gather for departure at 8:30 AM and return to the hotel at noon.
